Popular Teeth Whitening Treatments
Sometimes, no matter how much care one gives to dental hygiene, teeth can still take on a discolored appearance. Many people choose to use teeth-whitening procedures since if their teeth don’t look as white as they could, they could appear to have an unhealthy mouth. Some of the reasons why teeth might discolor are linked to the drinks and foods we consume. Coffee, wine, soda, tobacco are the most prominent contributors to teeth stains. Teeth whitening is more accessible now since these treatments can be performed in a dental office as in your own home. Therefore, it is essential to research what treatment will work best for you before committing to any.
Opalescence Boost is a chemically activated power whitening gel that provides brighter, whiter teeth after just 40 minutes in the dental chair. The powerful 40% hydrogen peroxide gel is chemically activated, so it doesn’t require a hot, uncomfortable light to work.
Opalescence Boost consists of two syringes: The first contains 38 percent hydrogen peroxide, the active tooth whitening ingredient. The second syringe contains fluoride and potassium nitrate (PF), which helps strengthen tooth enamel, reduce sensitivity and protect against cavities. When mixed, the gel produces a distinct red color to help ensure correct placement and full removal of the product.
Safe and effective, Opalescence Boost usually takes only one dental visit to complete. While one visit is all you need to achieve a brighter smile, difficult stains or extreme discoloration may require additional treatments.
At Coursey Family Dental, Opalescence Boost is just one of many teeth whitening options. Call us at 225-752-5241 to schedule a consultation.
Take-Home Whitening Trays
Custom whitening trays are clear and usually made of a clear plastic that comfortably adjusts when inserted. A small dollop of whitening gel is inserted in each tray. The gel consists of a hydrogen peroxide solution that actively whitens teeth enamel.
After the trays have been used and are removed, they need to be cleaned with cotton swabs or a cloth and rinsed. This makes them ready for use again. It is not suggested to use them for at least another day, after each application.
These whitening trays can be used several times to obtain desired results. Our dentist can further advise about how many times they should be used in your case. Also, you can have them customized to your needs.
There are many teeth whitening methods, each containing a different process and outcome. Treatments will affect each individual differently, which is why we will recommend a proper consultation with our dentist prior to choosing the right option for you. Additionally, everyone’s current state of oral health is different, so certain treatments may not work for you.
